Cedar Mills

Located in the extreme southeastern corner of Meeker County, Cedar Mills was originally settled as a village in 1860. The community takes its name from Cedar Lake, about two miles to the northeast of the community.

The lake originally had many red cedars on its shores and islands. This is the smallest of the incorporated communities on the Luce Line, with a population of 45 in the city.

A small parking area, small rest stop, plantings, and information board are recommended in this community. Space for these amenities exists within the trail right-of-way just east of the town, with direct access onto Highway 7.

Through the town, the trail lies on a city road shoulder for one block before it rejoins the former rail grade.

Just west of the town of Cedar Mills, a major new bridge crossing over the South Fork of the Crow River was installed in 1977. A small wayside rest would enhance this crossing site.
